How To Get Started With AWeber - Quick Start Guide

Table of Contents

Email marketing is probably the first thing you set out to do when starting your digital marketing campaigns. It is one tool that you cannot ignore when it comes to online marketing. With every dollar you spend on email marketing, you stand to get an ROI of $42, making it worth every penny you spend on it.

But it is also a fact that every day there are literally billions of emails sent out. To be exact, it is estimated that in a day, about 306 billion emails are sent, and the number could easily reach 361 billion within the next three years. It is one of the primary means to reach out to customers. Almost every professional marketing analyst would agree that email marketing effectively drives customer acquisition and retention.

But with so many emails going out and more and more businesses relying on email marketing, you have to go the extra mile to ensure your email marketing strategy works wonders.

Problems That AWeber Solves

A lot of businesses, after a promising start at email marketing, tend to struggle with improving email marketing conversion metrics. The results just don't seem to reflect the potential that email marketing has to offer.

This is because they tend to ignore the problems that come with email marketing and implement it just for its sake. Let’s say you get an email about a promotional offer but can barely get any details about how you can apply the offer to your shopping cart. You may end up just moving to the next email without clicking on anything. Most emails have this particular problem.

They lack focus, and they do not deliver the content effectively. With a complete email marketing solution like AWeber, you can easily optimize your email marketing, enhance your techniques and get the results you seek.

Failing To Establish And Track The Key Email Metrics

How can you say your email marketing is successful or not if you don't have the key metrics to back your statement? Before you start delving into making enhancements and implementing new strategies, you need to be aware of the basic metrics involved with email marketing, such as the delivery rate, open rate, click rate, unsubscribe date, spam complaints, active ratio, and post-click activity.

You need to employ a good mechanism to track these key metrics and ensure that you are indeed on the path to success or identify any areas that may need improvement.

AWeber has built-in features that let you track all of these metrics with ease and with accuracy. Their expertise in email marketing can also come in handy to identify the metrics that matter for your campaigns and find the best ways to reach optimal results.

Not Automating Your Email Campaigns

About 80% of all businesses that have used automation report a significant improvement in their ROI. Email marketing can be a time-consuming process with lots of attention to detail. Doing all of that manually can be exhausting and may also lead to some serious errors. A salesforce report says that about 67% of successful market leaders prefer using a marketing automation platform. Another survey states that automation is considered one of the four most popular methods to achieve personalized user experiences.

One key aspect of email marketing is the ability to personalize the message and reach out to the customer on a personal level. The fine targeting presented by email marketing can only be fully realized with the help of automation. And once again, AWeber can be your go-to companion in automating your email campaigns with their powerful automation engine, analytical capabilities, and easy-to-use built-in features. All it takes is just a matter of a few clicks to get started with your email marketing campaigns and execute them successfully.

Challenges In Data Integration

A lot of companies struggle to integrate their legacy data or data from their other systems into their email marketing. And somehow make do with the little data they have. This severely restricts their ability to offer personalized email marketing and reach target customers efficiently. You need to be able to integrate data from multiple sources, use customer segments, and have efficient data analysis tools to craft better content that will drive up your traffic.

And guess what? AWeber has everything and more that you need to run data-backed email marketing campaigns.

Email Deliverability Problems

So you send a bucket load of emails every day but still can't seem to get a higher click rate. The obvious reason could be that your subscribers simply are not able to see your emails. You need to lower your bounce rates to be able to properly validate how your email marketing works.

You need to keep track of the validity of the email addresses you are sending to. But verifying all the email ids from your long subscriber lists is simply not something that can be profitably done under a manual process. Get help with AWeber to automatically remove invalid email addresses from your mailing lists and optimize your campaigns, so you have lower bounce rates.

Now that those key aspects of email marketing are out of the way, let’s proceed on how to get started with AWeber!

Getting Started With AWeber

AWeber is no newbie to the email business. It has been an industry leader in email marketing since 1998, helping businesses enhance their email marketing with its powerful and evolving email engine. AWeber presents you with an intuitive and complete solution for all your email marketing needs, making it easy to create your mailing lists, automate your email campaigns, and even design top-notch personalized landing pages.

Getting started with Aweber is the easiest thing ever.

Here is a quick guide to creating your first mailing list and automating your email campaign

1. Get Signed Up With AWeber

You need to create your account with AWeber as the first step. Go to the AWeber website and sign up for their services.  Fill in the account details like the company name, social profile link, industry type, postal address, email subscription details, your business goals, and any other tool you may be currently using.

2. Create A List

A list in AWeber refers to a mailing list, collection of subscribers, or a team. You can use lists to segment your customers, group them based on common interests, or any other targeting criteria such as demographics, location, and more. You can import your existing mailing lists from your other marketing tools or create subscribe lists from scratch. AWeber also allows you to build lists from landing page forms.

You can choose to use the same list for multiple campaigns or set up different lists and also allow for targeted content distribution as your customers subscribe to specific types of lists.

Here is more information on how to get started with lists on AWeber.

3. Create Landing Pages

Creating landing pages with AWeber is the easiest thing to learn in under a minute. Go to the landing pages tab and click on the ‘Create a landing page’ button. You can choose from the hundreds of templates Aweber has crafted for you or choose to build a landing page from scratch with a drag and drop editor. Once you make the customizations you need, you can save and publish the landing pages to make them go live.

Here is our more in-depth guide on how to create landing pages with AWeber.

4. Create Your First Welcome Campaign By Creating Messages

A welcome campaign is a great way to get started with increasing your subscribers. Create your messages by navigating to the Campaigns section and clicking on the ‘Create a Campaign’ button. You will be shown several campaign templates from which you can choose the most suitable or build your campaign from scratch, similar to building your landing page.

I also recommend setting up autoresponders when getting started with AWeber. Here is our guide on how to set up autoresponders in AWeber.

5. Name Your Campaign And Click On Create

Select the trigger as ‘On Subscribe.’ Now every time a user clicks on the subscribe button, this campaign gets triggered. You can add filters with the help of the Add filter control to help add specific target subscribers.

Now add the ‘Send Message’ Actions to the campaign canvas to the selected subscription list. You can choose an existing message or create a new Message. Once you have added the various messages for your campaign, you can set the interval at which they should be sent by editing the values on the Settings sidebar.

Once you have made all the settings, Save and exit your campaign.

Conclusion

Compared to other email marketing services providers like GetResponse, AWeber flaunts a straightforward interface without too many bells and whistles, thus providing just the right mix of features. Getting started with AWeber is pretty easy. In addition, the tool also allows you to create your own landing pages, set up autoresponders, create sign-up forms, and more. You can learn more about AWeber in this review here.
